This project at Highgate Hill involved a carefully considered overhaul of the home’s rear façade, designed to improve functionality while maintaining the architectural integrity of the original Queenslander. New cladding and trim were installed to create a seamless, timeless finish that integrates naturally with the existing structure.

A custom Merbau landing was constructed to provide both stair and ramp access, ensuring long-term mobility while enhancing the usability of the rear entry. Supporting upgrades included new exterior lighting, improved insulation, and operable louvres to promote natural ventilation and comfort throughout the space.

Close attention to detail ensured the new works sit comfortably alongside the original home. By replicating the trim detailing from the upper roof gable and matching the cladding and roof lines, the extension achieves a consistent architectural language that blends old and new with ease — delivering a practical upgrade that allows the owners to remain in their family home for many years to come.
